Why Vistage

Giving back and sharing:  In your career as a CEO, business owner or senior executive, you've amassed unique knowledge and experience derived from your success and learnings. This is an opportunity to give back, guiding business leaders who can learn from your life's successes and failures.

Respect and recognition:  You'll receive enormous gratitude from your members for guiding them through tough times and pushing them, and their businesses to the next level. The respect, recognition and appreciation from peers and the Vistage community is extremely satisfying.

A deeper purpose:  According to current and past Chairs, the lifestyle and mission of this role provide a deeper sense of meaning in life. It's not just about the money; it's about doing the right thing, having a profound impact on the local community, and improving the lives of many others.

Flexibility in time and compensation:  Chairing offers flexibility, and more time for yourself, without compromising your goals or standards. You choose the time commitment and income requirements that fit your personal needs. You might choose to manage a 16 person group, putting in approximately 20 hours per week, including preparation, the monthly meeting, dedicated one-on-one sessions, and time spent with other Chairs. For those tasks you will earn $102K annually.  In addition, you are eligible for significant bonuses. The financial rewards escalate as you attract new members, add additional groups, or grow into the role of Best Practice Chair.

Solid infrastructure: This is an intrapreneurial® role, which is like an entrepreneurial role with infrastructure. Vistage has 130+ staff, including robust Sales and Marketing teams, Mentors, Best Practice Chairs, Membership Development Consultants, IT, Billing etc. Vistage pays for and provides all the tools and resources, yet it is ultimately your effort and dedication that makes this a true success.

Support and growth opportunities: You will work with a Best Practice Chair, who serves as the Chair for Chairs. That person provides advice and support, acts as a sounding board, analyzes attendance and turn-over, judges if members are getting what they need from the organization and more. You'll have access to this mentor and, in time, could develop into this position should that be your goal. Quick question for you - click here

Keys to Success

To find enjoyment and success in this unique entrepreneurial venture, you should first have the aptitude and demeanor to be an executive coach. It's important that you love mentoring and developing others, have passion, tremendous listening skills, and the ability to tap the group "think tank" potential. As with any boards on which you may be serving, or any philanthropic venture you may have undertaken, you'll need to care what others think and realize the power lies in the group and all the answers won't come directly from you. Statistics show that Vistage member companies tend to do three times more business than their non-member competitors, meaning you'll want to utilize all the talent in the room to help drive those results.

To lead a group of strong successful leaders, you'll also need a great presence and deep experience. Personal magnetism and the ability to demonstrate that you have walked a mile in their shoes -- been the chief decision maker and made the tough decisions, will be essential. Your experience based business acumen and strategic planning skills should be sharp and your personal magnetism should garner trust and respect.

Once you pass our extensive vetting procedures, you will be invited to attend a six day training session in San Diego with twenty to thirty other potential Chairs from all over the world. This is not only a tremendous opportunity to learn, it's a wonderful place to network. Your income will begin when your group launches, so you'll also need to be comfortable with the sweat equity built during ramp-up. Quick question for you - click here

About Vistage

Vistage International started from very humble beginnings over five decades ago. One October morning in 1957, a Wisconsin businessman named Robert Nourse met with four fellow chief executives in the office of the Milwaukee Valve Company to test a simple, yet revolutionary idea -- share their knowledge and experiences to help each other generate better results for their businesses.

Soon this group of businessmen was probing, asking questions and making suggestions. They challenged each other, working together to solve issues and grow. At that moment, TEC (The Executive Committee) and the first Executive Leadership Program was born.

Today, TEC is known as Vistage International and has global affiliates in 15 countries. Our Executive Leadership Program members meet in small peer advisory groups every month under the same guiding principles -- to help one another become better leaders, make better decisions and achieve better results.

What's more, Vistage members are connecting in ways Nourse never could have imagined: collaborating online around the world, tapping into a vast content library, and learning from hundreds of top industry speakers.
